Lovely to have
you on board. Please call in for a chat... even about your sciatica
Just a little
light reading...put the kids to bed...pour a strong coffee...feet up...read!
Letterland folder
These come home each night so you can see and reinforce what letter your
child is learning. (Changes every second day). The older children will be
learning letter blends so talk about words that illustrate that sound.
Return each night.
Readers
Please look after these and make reading a relaxing time. Hear them
read or if they are too tired you read to them. Make guessing games of the
easy words and only praise never criticise no matter how frustrated you
are. Nothing will kill their motivation faster. These come home
Mon-Thursday. Return each day.
Sight Word Charts
Once they get started, a chart of words to be learnt will come home.
They get a lollipop when they know each chart. It should just be kept in
their book bag at all times and get it out only if they or you have the energy
or are motivated.
Poem Books
On Fridays these will come home to be returned on Monday. These
poems are to spot the word families or rhyming which is very helpful with
reading and writing. Either read to, or hear them read at your leisure
in the weekend.
All these
activities are purely voluntary, but it is good for their development and
yours if you can be involved.
The moment frustration creeps in abandon and have a game of hide and seek.
Library Books
These go home on a Friday to be returned by the following Friday.
Bought Lunches
Lunches can be bought on
a Monday. Please put the money in an old envelope with name
and order written on outside and if you have the correct change its helpful.
Clothes
Please just get a permanent marker and write their initials on the tags
of their clothes and heels of socks and shoes. Kids are notorious for
forgetting even the most memorable of clothes - not to mention the parents!
It's great if they can have some shoes they can put on by themselves.
Swimming
Dress them in clothes that they can get on and off with ease. Put
their togs and towel in a named plastic bag.
Parent help
If you are able and would enjoy lending a hand for reading and writing
time one morning a week, Liz and Karo would tearfully accept your help,
but we know many have younger children to care for or are working, so
it's only if you really have a space.
Swimming
Dress them in clothes that they can get on and off with ease. Put
their togs in a named plastic bag.
